Some Buddhist perspectives suggest that the concepts of past, present, and future are ultimately mental constructs and that the only true reality is the present moment. This giant temporary sign urges us to fully inhabit the present, rather than being caught up in the illusion of time.

This Time Tomorrow -

The title comes from one of my favourite songs by The Kinks.
This painting is a narrative piece that expresses a sense of hope about where we’re headed, despite the reality of where we currently are.

I’ve always been fascinated by caravans and ice cream vans. They seem to carry a kind of duality in the stories they tell—symbols of both hope and disappointment. They promise the freedom of adventure, the idea that you could go anywhere… yet often, that dream is left unrealised, the van left slowly rotting on a driveway.

Our Summer holidays generally involve quite a few diversions, both good and bad. There’s a little bit of escapism from normal life for a week or so. Then there’s the inevitable road diversion that arises. And of course, there’s the essential daily holiday diversion for ice cream.

URNS -

A series of print works with colourful funeral urns by Graphic Fine Artist Francis Kenney. The bright shades on these memento mori pieces urge joy in the face of death.
They symbolise faith, and the enduring nature of memory and a love that transcends physical separation. 

Vanitas - I to X is a series of ten modern memento mori pictures, by Graphic Fine Artist Francis Kenney

Symbolic vanitas pictures were popular in the 17th century, serving to remind the viewer of their mortality in a religious age when almost everyone believed that life on earth was merely a preparation for the afterlife. 

I'm not so sure about the after life, so best enjoy it all now and laugh through the tears. They are intended as a jolly jolt to remind me of my mortality.
Alongside traditional vanitas items like rotting fruit and candles, the party hats and the clown noses and smile are a reminder to me to turn up the frown and have a good time while it lasts as the end could be just around the corner.
